My wife bought a used 2011 Outback and almost immediately started getting P2096 Post Catalyst Fuel Trim System Too Lean Bank 1 error. Luckily we bought from a dealer and had a 30 day 3,000 mile powertrain warranty
, but the dealer we bought from was two hours away, and they authorized the local dealer (one hour away) to fix it
.
The local dealer initially determined the problem to be both oxygen sensors, and replaced both (at the expense of the the selling dealer). After 3 days, the CEL came back on with the same code. Ooops! We took it back and they did something to clean the Mass Air Flow sensor (they wanted to charge us for the diagnostics, but we refused). After 3 days, the CEL came back on with the same code. Ooops! Now we're scheduled to have the car looked at in more detail; they want the car for the entire day! We found AFTER we bought the car that it was in a front end accident (we asked several times for the Car Fax, but was diverted on every request
)
I bought the Innova 3150d Code reader, and on each instance, the freeze frame shows different values for everything EXCEPT the Short Term Fuel Trim (B1-S2) which has in all 3 instances been -3.91%.
Anybody have any ideas what direction I should lead the service department?:1zhelp:
