Mechanic said the thermostat for the CVT oil cooler is leaking coolant.
Said repair required replacement of:
-thermostat
-coolant
-intake manifold gasket
-EGR gasket
Cost of $745.00
When ask why the cost was so high, said engine must be partially lifted to do the work.
In watching this video:
the thermostat to appears to be accessible.
1st photo from video explaining dual thermostats with locations and functions
2nd photo from mechanic giving quote
I am not a mechanic but the price quoted seems excessive. Anyone have experience replacing the CVT oil cooler thermostat? Is the price quoted excessive? Are there any known issues for this?
I do not have that kind of money and am trying to figure out what to do.
