4EAT transmission compatibility

Hi,
Anyone have any experience swapping a TZ1B transmission for the 3rd gen into a second gen with the TZ1A? Or if its even possible to adapt the wiring? Assuming the gear ratio is correct. Thanks!

Donor car: 2005 outback. Target car: 2002 Outback. Both 2.5L automatic models.

just a quick check of parts sites doesnt tell us much. apparently 3 versions of the "A" AT in 2002 us model. only see 1 variation for the "B" 2005. Can't find info on ratios...

If you have the whole trans number, run it on legacypic.uk

It'll give you the cars it was installed in and gear ratios.
