I also had an 05 Legacy GT Wagon 5 speed and used a tactrix cable, but unless you have the definitions from somewhere, it's useless.

Good luck and let us know the outcome - you're probably not the only one looking to do this. But without a turbo, doing a self-tune is not likely to give you enough improvement.

When you're satisfied with your ECU edits, can you post some of the theory and practice behind your DIY tuning and what it's accomplished for your car? Resources?

One thing that helps performance is letting peak combustion temperatures get higher, but EGR is used to lower combustion temperatures to prevent oxides of nitrogen from forming. I used to block off EGR in naturally aspirated cars before.
