Hi - does anyone have or know of a current promo code for Starlink renewal? Thanks.

I called Starlink and asked about any deals. Turns out as a three time owner, they gave me six months of free service extension on each of our Subarus. Worth a call.

Don't know of any that work still. Used to be STARLINK9 but last I heard that had stopped working. Your best bet is to call up the 800# and see if there is anything they can do. It's not a given, but have heard of some people getting discounts that way.
You know what pisses me off, when I called Subaru HDQT's the said they could of given me a 5 yr or 7yr reduced rate, but never mentioned it during the sales process.

I just called Starlink direct. Even after I told them I have been a Subaru owner for 29 yrs it did nothing to move them & if I wanted to keep all my features which I do use, I will still have to pay the $149/yr. They do not care about loyalty at all. No coupons @ this time. My subscription is not up until 09/23 so I will call them back again as I get closer to my expiration date.

My dealer had told me to just do the 3 years and that I will receive emails with promotions for this service when it expires. Well I have received nothing and it's now time to renew at $149. I called just now and the rep could do nothing and said that after my promotional period it's now full price. I only want the security plan, but you must buy the safety plan with it. This has soured me on Subaru.

Pay $30,000 - $40,000 for a car and $149/year is a deal breaker.

Just called and canceled Starlink. No deals offered. The 1st 3 years at time of purchase for $75 was a great deal. Year 4 automatically renewed for $149+tax without me realizing. Year 5, I decided to renew, thinking that having roadside assistance would be a good thing now that I was over the 3yrs/36k miles of included roadside assistance and I use the remote start a lot. Learned the hard way, this passed summer, that the Starlink Safety Subscription's "Enhanced Roadside Assistance" DOES NOT actually offer roadside assistance. I broke down, hit the SOS button and had to pay $150 on the spot for them to arrange a tow. If you're out of warranty, or over 3yrs/36K miles, all their "enhanced roadside assistance" actually offers is the ability to arrange a tow or other roadside care, AFTER you pay for it in advance on the spot. COMPLETE SCAM! You know they intentionally word it "enhanced roadside assistance" as a deliberate attempt to mislead their customers. Don't fall for it, like I did. This was my first and last Subaru. Nothing, but problems with it and their "customer care" people.

It’s strange how they operate
I traded my 2019 forester and removed car from Starlink account..
3 years later I noticed charges on Credit card for 3 years..
apparently removing car will not automatically cancel service..
But after car is removed you have no option to cancel it..
after I call Starlink they cancel service and did prorated refund for 11 months of last year..
But to get refund prior 2 years 1 month I had to call SOA and they cut me check for it…

Traffic data for the nav is through SiriusXM.
What does that mean? As in, what is "traffic data" using maps feature (i.e. not from a cell phone). Or is this about traffic data using a connected cell phone? Probably not because the question is about nav with or without a Starlink subscription. In that case, you're suggesting you need SiriusXM account to use navigaion/maps?

Traffic data for the built in navigation. Such as if there is an accident and it suggests a better route, etc. Without it, the navigation part works it will just tell you how to get there, will re-route you if you go off course, etc but doesn't know if there is an accident closing down the highway or not. You know, all the stuff your cell phone does anyway which is why no one bothers using the built in navigation.

Not 3.99/month here either.
It's $4.99/month in Canada, which is actually cheaper given the current exchange rate ($3.99 US = $5.47 Canada).

Interesting. I saw 5.99 so maybe one of those amounts is out of date. But that's on top of the main subscription which for sure is more $ here, just like Starlink renewals.

Interesting observation about the nav/maps when I used it today. Two times I went from home to the same place today about 55 km away. The first time it suggested the route through my city that I would have taken anyway. Second time it suggested an alternate route through the city (going there again). The difference? Rush hour traffic. So it would seem that the route suggestions are based on traffic patterns, same as a phone.

The higher priced plans include Travel Link

I'm in Canada and have the Travel Link option from Sirius. I bought a three-year subscription for $150CDN. Works out to be a little over $4 per month. It comes with instant traffic, gas prices (useless and old), parking (useless), weather, sports scores and stock price (WTF for?) It is NOT part of Starlink. Starlink is an extra $150 per year. Aside from remote start, crash detection and destination downloads, the rest is pretty useless.

I say "No, Starlink and maps are not interdependent". I have run about 2 months so far without Starlink and can say that nav (which I believe is a Tomtom service for my car) still works. If you look on the Starlink site for the features you get, nav is not one of them. If at the end of the term (for me, 3 years) both Starlink and map updates are discontinued. If you want both going forward, you have to make 2 separate purchases. I don't have SiriusXM account either. Plain old maps navigation is good enough for me. Some say it's not adaptive like google maps (or whatever others use) but I think it is.

Got any favorable concession? Tnx.

I just called Subaru of America and they told me to take a hike. No promos. No loyalty. No ability to JUST have remote start (most egregious offense). No love.

I told them I would not be renewing. He said that was my choice.

I hung up.

I immediately renewed. Too damn hot in the spring (let alone summer) around here to hop into a boiling car.

Jerks.

Please post if you have walked into a store, e.g., grocery, big box, clothing, picked up an item priced at $49.99, take it to the cashier and say, "I'll give you $45 for this." expecting them to respond, "Deal"?

Paying to use hardware that is already built into a car you purchased is and will always be bogus. Same thing for paying to enable the heated seats in a BMW.

Also, intentionally making someone pay $100 for "safety features" they don't care about to have "the ability" to then pay $50 for the remote start function that they DO care about is what I'm truly mad at.

Nothing about Starlink is done with the customer's happiness prioritized. It's a money grab.
