The Subaru, Beck Arnley, and add Full to the list, are good filters. The WIX is acceptable also.

I recommend you use Subaru HP or Idemitsu HP fluid.

 

My only reason for suggesting against Amazon is that I have received counterfeit products from them before on more than one occasion. Of course if it's a generic item anyway, I'm not concerned about this, but in cases of I'm buying something because it is a brand I count and depend on, then ...

If I may ask, depending on what you got from Amazon. Like an oil filter how would one know it's a counterfeit?

Many aftermarket companies replace a $40 Subaru ATF filter with a $5 oil filter....which worries me. I haven't done much research beyond that, the couple times I've needed one, I just bought a Subaru one.

They call for Dexron III, which is the most common ATF available (usually listed as Dex/Merc). Every brand offers a compatible fluid, available at every retailer. Pick your favorite. Subaru HP replaced it, and is backwards compatible, so that is fine, too. I buy 2.5 gallon jugs at Fleet Farm....

A lot of counterfeit parts on Amazon and Ebay. Spark plugs, filters, and more. If you care about what filter you're getting, don't get it on Amazon.
