I used to work in the fuel additive industry. We analyzed and tested BG 44K. It, along with every other aftermarket additive, is nearly all solvent with just a little detergent. Most aftermarket additives contain about twice or three times what is needed for Top Tier fuel. Some retail fuel contains a similar amount (such as BP and Shell premium who both treat way above the amount of detergent needed to meet the Top Tier requirements). Port fuel injector deposits and intake valve deposits are rare in any modern PFI vehicle.

If you are really concerned, just run a few tanks of Shell premium, which will give you just as much or more detergent than an aftermarket bottle without all of the unnecessary solvents.
