I have the 504 update and apple carplay is full screen...However, what do you mean by "and the clock menu that now opens up when you touch the clock" Can you please explain what you mean about touching the clock???? What clock, where??? Thank you
Top center, touching the time opens the menu to change the clock. Isn’t really something you’ll probably use if your clock is set to auto.

Im loving this 2020 (and I def have gripes, and two previous generations of happy outback ownership to compare it to). To me though, some of these gripes are just not even close to deal breakers for the car overall.
The safety, is paramount and should rank high in importance. Just about the riskiest things most of us do in our days is driving.
The way the car feels and drives and looks and generally functions is all way more important to me than what size the screen is going to mirror my phone.
The lack of storage space (I mean the more hidden spaces, not the rear cargo area) - is all much smaller than my 2013.
The door storage areas, the glove box, the front and center console and "cubby", the space under the cargo floor - ALL of them are way smaller than my 2013. I keep a lot of stuff in all those spaces, so I will really have to adjust, I am figuring that out now. Im one of those "ready for anything" kind of people, and the hidden storage spaces helped me in that area. haha I just have to adjust. It would never be a deal breaker for a car for me. A house maybe, but not a car.
Its not like there is NO space, but they did cut it back a lot from the 2013 (I cant speak for Gen 5). To me it just means I have to get more creative in how I store things.
If they would move the shifter to the dash like many cars do today- that would free up a lot space. The USB ports in the cubby are ridiculous to get at

Somewhere way back at the beginning of this thread...

Well color me incorrect. I double checked and it turns out that in the split screen, it does default to Apple Maps. Turns out it's a 'feature' of CarPlay where in split screen mode, the maps always default to Apple Maps. After some Google-fu, turns out there's no way to change it for now, at least not that I can find.

Edit to Add: Apparently iOS 13.4 now allows the feature but Google and Waze haven't updated their apps to integrate with it yet: CarPlay dashboard gets third-party maps support in iOS 13.4
So, I just upgraded to iOS 14 and voila, Google maps now can be the default in CarPlay dashboard/split screen (forgive the horrible glare).

Edit... made the photo a bit better.

I have a problem that I think started after installing 504. I set 3 to 4 favorite buttons in each of the three groups with Satellite MUSIC channels. When I select a preset Satellite channel it will show that it is playing "REPLAY" mode. I then press replay to go back to live . Only one or two of the channels in each group will be in Replay . If i go back to a group other satellite favorite channels(1 or 2 of them) will be in replay mode. It's random what favorite button will show replay when selected. The only pattern I see is that it is always a Satelite music channel.

I have 504 installed and see this as well, although I'm not sure about this part: "Only one or two of the channels in each group will be in Replay . If i go back to a group other satellite favorite channels(1 or 2 of them) will be in replay mode."

I had the same thing. Go to the sxm settings and you can turn off auto replay mode (I forgot exactly what it’s called)

I guess it would depend upon your viewpoint...but for me I was looking for a nice inexpensive reliable vehicle that would last me 10 yrs in retirement.
Same for me it was I wanted something that could haul some things and I wanted all wheel drive or four wheel drive for the random snow/ice we get. Outback makes more sense as a possible future family car as well. I’m getting married in a month and if we have kids I already have the dad wagon.

4x4 truck cost ~10k more new and a 5-10 yr old one is about the same price point, and more often then not was drove hard.

Outback made the most sense and was a car I also would want to have for 15-20 yrs.

I'm in pretty much the same situation and approached it the same way you did. Also considered a truck but didn't want to deal with the random downtown parking I need to do sometimes (especially underground lots).

I've driven a friend's 2011 Forester in some pretty bad winter conditions (with heavy duty snow tires) and the thing is a beast. Looking forward to seeing how the Outback handles but I'm certain it'll be as good if not better.

Hopefully we get full screen Android Auto within the next 5 years. 🤞

Can someone tell me the current Subaru Bulletin Number (or where to find them) so that I can tell the dealer what he should read before doing the update? I just got a 2020 OB Limited, no NAV. I want to make sure they do it right, since I've heard things can go badly. I have version 502

If you just got your car, it may have the latest update. Do you have full screen carplay? If so, it’s probably current.

Subscription only unfortunately.
To download the TSB is subscription only, but the dealer has access to it.

I have an older version of the TSB THE ATTACHED FILE IS THE OLD VERSION

Check the date on any TSB - the STIS website is handy to at least let you know if a new version has been released.

Some service advisors may tell you to go away if you just go in asking for TSB XYZ. Need to tell the advisor of specific issues you are experiencing with the head unit.

You will be hard pressed to find a tech unfamiliar with this TSB. It has been out since March.
