How to remove plastic things covering headlight adjustment bolts?

I'm trying to adjust the height of my headlight beams, and there are these white plastic cylinders over what's supposed to be the adjusting bolt that I can't seem to get off. They turn loosely and freely, but I can't pull them off the bolt. Anyone know what I'm supposed to do? Thanks for your time!

Some pliers and a bit of upper arm strength. Just break them. It's really stupid but you can just take them off.

Make sure your headlight bulbs are seated PROPERLY in the housing before bothering with adjustment

So when breaking them off with pliers, how do I go about it? I don't want to break the adjustment bolt/stem or how it's housed by pulling or pushing the wrong way.

When I did mine, I just crushed the plastic by squeezing and then it fell off. You don't want to pull the metal at all because that's the functional part. So start at the end (closest to motor) it's entirely plastic. The adjustment screw is about half way in the cap.
