Thanks, all working now
Hey, I've got exactly the same issue with messy steering wheel controls. Can you please advise what was the right solution for this in your case? I've purchased the very same canbus from the link provided in this forum. Also, It seems that Im not able to make the front speakers work. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

Hi all, I just installed this Android radio, it's excellent, everything works, it was plug and play from my old unit. Has everything I wanted, and the plus was that it has wireless android auto, which I didn't think was available from the ad online. Steering wheel buttons, even door and hvac settings show up on the display, it's pretty nice.

Here are the links to the unit, as well as the purchase of the canbus since I have a factory reverse camera and the harmon kardon unit.

UPDATE: Got the reverse camera working! Read the following threads....

Are you still liking this setup? I really dig this and am curious now that you've had it installed for a few months. Pros and cons.

I purchased the headunit, the M300S model, I didn't want one with more memory since I use android auto 100% of the time, but I did want one with a fast processor so booting up would be quick: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256...l?spm=a2g0o.order_list.0.0.740c18021BqUwl&gatewayAdapt=glo2usa&_randl_shipto=US
The canbus adapter for the headunit (pick the one for a subaru): https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256801184510691.html
The step down video adapter: Axxess AX-SUB5RVC-6V Backup Camera Adapter
And for fun I also purchased the usb adapter, so that the stock oem usb plugs connect directly to the headunit: Metra AX-SUBUSB2 USB Adapter

For the price, it can't be beat. I was about to buy a pioneer double din for more than $1200 until I saw this on these forums. This has a larger screen, full android, wireless android auto/apple carplay, and looks awesome!
Why is it so cheap to buy this stuff??

Still liking it, works perfectly. I also downloaded local maps of my area (California, Nevada, and Oregon) just incase I lose cellular data, I can still use the mapping and navigation software on the system without using android auto. Honestly, the only con was the initial setup and install, after that, it's everything I wanted.

They are inexpensive because android has been a free platform for developers thus creating an amazing open source base. Add that to advancements in electronics, specifically in this case tablets and screens, and things like these should be this inexpensive. Big name car audio brands had to develop user interfaces in house for years, and that relayed into their prices, and still does today.

Hello everyone, can anyone answer, after installing an Android device, is the RCTA (Rear Cross-Traffic Alert) feature still available? An OEM device that indicates (blinks) on the side of the monitor where a vehicle or some movement is indicated.
Thanks for any answer.

Yes, this still works, and the alert is seen on the android head unit when in reverse.

Hey All

Looking at installing this in my 2017 outback and curious about 2 things. Did it come with all the harnesses/cables that are required to retain all the original functionality? Or do you need to get some stuff separately. I found a thread on reddit that lists a CANBUS, 6v Backup Camera Adapter, and an optimal USB Adapter.

Also can you get some more robust TPMS on this unit? I notice some of the other units out there are talking about this through the installation of an app, and wanted to make sure it was the same for this one.

Is the app store installed on these so you can install whatever apps you want?

Other then that has anyone compared this to the Idoing unit which seems to look the same but cost a little more?

Hey Just installed. I had the issue with messy steering wheel controls. QuickBike's settings made the difference. Specifically after choosing the correct CANBUS, you need to select TYPE 1 controller because it seems that TYPE 2 is set by default

Hey Quickbike

Thanks for the excellent write-up. Was able to get everything ordered and installed pretty quick. I ended ordering the upgraded M6 Pro with Android 12. A couple of questions I had though.

1) The blue and gray antennas that went to the original Subaru head unit, did you just leave them unplugged? Are those the XM antenna and GPS? Did you just connect the Frakas GPS component that came with the Navifly head unit?
2) I was hoping to use the mic that's already in the car. Currently after installation, the car mic sounds very distant now during calls made through the car speaker system. Any solutions to using the OEM mic?

Last thing I'm waiting on is a new single USB adaptor. My '16 outback has the dual USB which is apparently an issue. When I try to connect it now to the head unit with the dual USB, my phone asks for the security code, which I can't find anywhere. SoI've ordered an OEM single USB/aux box through my dealer to switch it out. We can access this box in the center cubby easily when the head unit is out.

No prob! I connected the radio antenna as well as the gps one from the unit. I stuck it under the dash, basically above the unit area. Now I'm curious if I could update to android 12, I wonder what the differences are...

As for the microphone, I've researched and found that trying to plug into the OEM microphone has had issues with pickup, I'm guessing that one is amp'd somehow. If I wanted to do it cleanly, I would wire a microphone all the way to the OEM microphone area, and glue it in there. Second way would be to route a microphone to a similar area, there are some flush mount ones that look ok. I agree that the head unit microphone isn't the best, but since I don't use the phone too often, I'm just going to live with it, wish it was better. Well, maybe even wire one to the driver's side a pillar, we'll see how annoyed I get.

Ahh never knew about the dual usb, that's good to point out to other users.

Really appreciate everyone's tips on installing this head unit and getting the backup camera working. Install went without a hitch (except maybe removing the trim from the climate control module to make room for the head unit). For those considering the upgraded version (M6 Pro on Android 12), that's what I ended up purchasing, and it's working great so far.

Ohhh I want that UI!

Nice. Same here with the M6Pro. Does your reverse cross traffic alert still work though? Mine doesn't beep anymore. Not sure if I missed a hookup. I do like the new lines that move with the steering wheel though.

I installed the new single usb OEM and it works with the head unit well.

I'm installing an m700 in a 2016 Outback limited w/ HK sound.

I'm using the canbus RP5-SU-001

There are a number of wires that attached to the original head unit that have no means of attaching the canbus or the head unit. I can't help but think that's not right... Am I missing something? See photo below.

Other than that. Steering wheel buttons seem to work. I have the wires from crutchfield to hook up the backup camera, which I have yet to do.

There shouldn't be that many not connected. I feel like I only had two not connected, the GPS and one other antenna. Did you remove the starlink module? I left the starlink module and the wires connected to that in place as I had read the front speakers wouldn't work if disconnected.

My cross traffic alert still works while in reverse. There's even an icon that blinks on screen when it goes off, in addition to the sound alert. How did you remove the dual USB tray? I'm thinking of replacing my cigarette lighter with a usb adapter similar to this.
