Not sure if it's just my use case, but the bushings in the rear upper control arms have needed replacement every 30k miles or sooner. Specifically the ouboard ones that join to the trailing arms. Historically, I've used OEM replacements and tried the Whiteline Poly versions for the last cycle but they didn't last much longer (2-3k mi more?).
They are needing replacement again (see pics) and I'm looking for something more durable. Not that concerned with NVH. It would be nice to get 60k mi out of a set. Considering lathing up a set of solid LDPE/HDPE plastic bushes for just the outer pivots.
According to this suspension.com article, OEM rubber bushings have a durometer around 16D and Polyurethane bushings come in around 30D. Softer plastics like LDPE (48D) and HDPE (52D) seem like they could be feasible options. Only concern would be over-stressing the mounting tabs on the trailing arm since these seem like the weak points of the system.
Thoughts? Experiences with other brands in the realm of durability?
