I have a 2020 Subaru Outback Ltd XT I ordered new in October 2019.
Since the satellite radio would launch immediately only about 10% of the time, I have tried several work around's besides doing a hard reset since it wipes out my WiFi setting too.
I noticed that until Starlink launched/icon lit up on the screen, Sirius XM would not function. The regular AM and FM radio always worked, not the satellite radio.
I use my mapping, so when the car is started the mapping always works.
Here are the steps that work for me and you need to be a little patient.
1. Start engine and press green accept icon on screen
2. Normally, TomTom navigation launches right away, but when Sirius XM does not immediately launch, I found the following to work.
3. Touch Home icon
4. I noticed that on the home screen, Subaru Starlink has not launched and the icon is dark.
5. After waiting for about 10 seconds, if Starlink has not launched, touch the Radio icon, full screen goes dark and after about another 10 seconds, Sirius XM launches with sound first, then screen comes back to life and displays the Sirius radio information, music begins on the last station I selected before turning off the engine from prior use.
6. If Starlink icon lights up, the Sirius XM will usually start with audio 3-4 seconds later. If not, Touch Sirius XM icon and the screen goes dark, after about 5 more seconds, it usually comes to life.
Touch Home and then Touch Map so it’s displayed again.
I shared this info with Subaru and I hope this aids them in fixing this issue.
