Sorry for beating a dead horse.

I've been reading for hours on several forums About oil filters for the ej255

As of today I can only find 2 filters that fit and have a 20psi+ bypass

both sold at fredbeans

part # 15208AA12A
Subaru Oil Filters & Washers - 6 Pack

part # N3R1-14-302
Tokyo Roki

My only urk with fredbeans is they dont offer usps shipping.. only ups $20+ shipping :/

Has anyone found a universal (napa gold, purulator, bosch, etc) that has 20psi+ and fits the ej255?

I found a purulator that has 23psi but it says it doesnt fit :/

It would be nice to buy them locally(I dont have a mazda or subbie dealer in 200miles)

Edit:
to spec filters are
Wix: 57712
NAPA (Wix): 7712
CarQuest (Wix): 84712
purolator 14460

The Wix 57712 has the 23 psi by-pass spec and I believe is a substitute for the Subaru . . .AA12A, which is used on the H4 sohc Subaru engines. But I'm not sure if it's listed for the 2.5 turbo.

Compare prices. The WIX filter is sold up here only at auto parts stores and is more expensive than the Subaru filter at my dealer. Other on-line Subaru parts suppliers, such as Subaruonlineparts.com, often have bulk prices on the Subaru filters and/or free shipping. They might turn out to be equal, or less, than other brands you can get locally.

Excellent! the nasioc guys say they run the Wix/napa 57712 on the wrx's so it will do perfect for now in tell I find a filter I like and buy in bulk for discount... didn't feel like I was getting a bulk discount at fredbeans. super excellent place though.

Have you tried to find the Subaru filter on any of the online sellers like subaru parts online, Amazon or ebay?

Yeah, I don't know what it is either. Not printed on the can, the box or the website. Some people have figured out what it is for some of their other models, but I don't have access to a test rig or data from one.

I chose not to concern myself with it and focus on feeling good about saving a few pennies over the past 20k miles. Changing every 3750 to keep up with a turbo means these things add up, and I don't even drive that many miles per year.
