In my vehicle, I gave up on windshield placement due to constant failure of pretty much any mounting format (tape, suction, whatever) due to heat...and it always fell off at just the wrong time. I have mine on the dash, right in the middle where the glass meets the dash. I painted it flat black (except for the label on the bottom) and use HD velcro to keep it from flying around. I have no issue with my vehicle's electronics and it always registers tolls correctly. I will likely do the same when we get my wife's new Outback Limited in the spring as it will have the EyeSight system.

I have 3 NY EZpass's. Never lived in NY just go on line and order them.

I have changed them from car to truck to SUV, granted I don't use them every day. Never had an issue except for getting a letter asking me to slow down when going through the toll reader. :)

I also have been wondering about mounting it up on the gray area up behind the mirror as high as possible.

I've even painted mine black...they didn't like that either when I had to send them back for the new smaller units a few month's back.

All my vehicles are registered on my EZPass account so there is no problem using the same transponder in multiple vehicles. As far as I know EZPass NY has the same type of accounts and vehicles can be added and subtracted as needed online.

I plan on putting mine in the upper pass side.

I got my EZPass from New York in the 90's, even though I haven't lived in state in years they don't seem to care so I keep using their transponders. They will mail you new Velcro tape for free cut into the appropriate size strips already as well as the bags that keep the tag from getting read if you want.

But you CANNOT move the tag between cars regularly - you will eventually get a ticket in NY if you do this a lot, they have plate readers at all tolls into and out of NYC and EZPass NY periodically checks the transponders match the car. I got a warning the last time my plates changed and I forgot to update the account. I've gotten away traveling and using it in rental cars though.
NY does allow multiple vehicles on a single account with a single transponder.

Are you at the top of the windshield or below the grayed out area? I mounted just below the grayed out area and it is working fine but would be nice to have it less visible by moving it up to the top if there is room.

Mine is mounted much further up the windshield; the whole thing is inside the gray-out region. No issues with EZpass or Eyesight functionality.

I stand corrected....

This is the "OFFICIAL" location as per the Subaru Gen 5 Service Manual:

Directly under the mounting point for the rear view mirror.

I had put my EZ Pass in the upper passenger side corner. The other day I got a miss-read at the Lincoln Tunnel. Based on the info posted here from the Service Manual, I have moved my EZ Pass under the mirror. I have used the adaptive cruise control many times since then and it doesn't seem to affect it. Thanks for all of the information!!

I have mounted the ezpass on the passenger site, next to right eyesight camera, in the top tinted windshield area. There is not problem going through ezpass lanes and so far not tickets in NY/NJ since Dec 2015. Plus not interference with eyesight system.

The Factory remote-start receiver mounts to the top left corner of the windshield and doesn't phase the Eyesight system a bit...

I have no doubt that mounting your EXPass transponder in either of the top corners of the windshield will also not affect the Eyesight system a bit.

This is an old thread - pretty sure the diagram on the first page (recommending the position just below the rear view) is only relevant to 2015-16s with Eyesight since the 2017 system added a third camera. That's the position I used since it's about as close as you can get to what EZpass instructs you to do, but I'd be surprised if other locations along the top of the windshield were truly a problem.

Trying to avoid the heated glass elements of the windshield while keeping the EZpass behind the rearview mirror as viewed from the driver's seat.

Given that I get one shot to do this right with the velcro tape, I don't want to stick it in a place that ends up obstructing the Eyesight cameras.

Just wondering what others w/Eyesight have done with their EZPass Transponders...
(Works fine right here)

By the way I got a little holder from Etsy with suction cups on it 5 bucks . I have mine towards the right of my windshield over on the passenger side so it won't interfere with eyesight.

That would make it easier to remove the E-Z Pass and take it with you. Instead of prying it off the two Velcro tape strips that come with the E-Z Pass. If that's what you want to do.
