I should update to say that the wing arrived on time.

In fact, it was shipped via DHL, with a due date of 11/15, but it was actually delivered on 11/12, a national holiday! Impressive!

My tube of touch-up paint is slightly damaged around the rim so I'm gonna call them to see if they just ship me another one.

Cool coincidence:
The Subaru factory sticker on the box includes a production date of 091902. September 19, 2002. My birthday is September 19th!
Haha; cool!

Just out of curiosity, what is the actual benefit for the rear spoiler ? Does it keep snow and rain off your rear window when driving. I get major snow buildup when driving on snowy roads. Does this have the third brake light incorperated into the wing ?
AFAIK it is purely a cosmetic change and there is no official function.

There is no lighting on this OEM wing. From what I've seen on OBs with it installed, I'd say that yes, it will help keep snow off of the rear window.

yeah... this was a great deal.. i picked mine up a while back ago.. couple pointers on the install in my thread:...B]

Q, could you answer this question from your original thread?:

"Quazar-

Could you elaborate on the template that was off. I just purchased a spolier and looked at things and it looks like things won't line up.

Is it the outer holes that are off?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance."

sure.. i totally forgot about that.. the spoiler mounts with 2 holes on each side.. slightly staggered.. i believe that the lower holes in the template were about 1/4 off as in too far in. i drilled the holes according to the template and then i ended up widening the lower holes closer to an oval shape to get the studs from the spoiler to fit.

hope that helps!

Does anyone have a template???

Hi all,
I just bought a 2001 Outback last week and the dust deflector was mia, but the seller gave me a matching rear spoiler he bought off someone with no hardware or installation template. I managed to locate a PDF of the installation instructions from Subaru but there was just a reference to the template. The hardware should be no problem, but I hate to start drilling holes blindly. Does anybody still have a copy of the template they can scan/email or fax to me??? It would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
hiker

Resurrection of an old thread because I just bought my 2001 Wagon.
I have been looking everywhere for the rear spoiler E7210LS000WG.
Actually any color will do, I am willing to paint.
I found some through google but when I order them, they turn around and cancel my order tying up my $$$.
Edit: I have been told they are not available, I assume through the Subaru Main Warehouse.
Anybody here know where to find a new spoiler?

what you are looking for is no longer made, so if any of the subaru dealer websites say they have one it is a false stock level in the computer.

I got one on the back of my wagon, but it came that way to me.

see threads by caseyls, he got one. probably need to find one on ebay.

the large body color wings were kind of rare in the first place. whereas the smoke colored clear dust deflector was kind of common as a option. If you looked in junk yard listings they might confuse the smoke colored one for the larger body colored one.

Edit: here is caseyls thread, ...just a local part out I guess.
