can anyone identify this sensor for me? it next to the VVT solenoid on the passenger side. the housing is broken and i'm wondering what symptoms it might create. thanks,.

That's the AVLS oil temperature sensor. You'll want to find out what melted it. Looks like you may have a short. May have just been the temp sensor, but check your harness.

It looks like it's the same sensor as the ECT through 09.
