The other thing to consider is that with the 1.5" wider tires, there is 6" more tread stopping and turning my OBW over the OE tires.

OE is 6.7" tread width.

245 A/T Trail is 8.2".

If using on snow and ice, you want narrower tire for better traction and handling.

While blizzard and ice driving are occasional fun when crossing mountain passes, I would not choose to live where it gets snow. My focus is the 99.99% of my driving.

You certainly don’t want winter tires if above 7c constantly, too soft.
Before I bought new tires a few weeks ago, I found this blog very informative on deciding OEM size vs upsizing, wider tires:

“So in short when you fit a wider or more narrow tire, what ultimately changes is the shape of the contact patch. The patch gets wider horizontally and shorter on the vertical direction.”

Basic example, a wider tire contact patch 4”x3” 12sqin = narrow tire 3”x4” 12 sqin. (same vehicle & psi).

Good argument to ditch the OEM tires!

Look at the new Nokian Outpost AT 30.9lbs or Outpost APT 29.5lbs both 245/65/17. Uses Kevlar for added protection, 20% lighter than either Falkens. I have APT in 225/60/18 OEM.
