2019 Outback DCM draining battery

My father owns an Outback and started experiencing the battery drain issue. We took it to a dealership, but they want to charge $200 to diagnose the problem.
If this is indeed an issue with DCM as many people in this forum pointed out, can I just remove the fuse for the DCM and continue to drive? My father does not use/need this connection and can live without it. If that works, that might be the simplest solution for us. Thank you.

As per the other threads and posts on this forum about the issue, removing a fuse will solve the battery drain problem of the DCM.

Please note that if you do this the hands free microphone and front speakers may no longer work.

There is also a simple $10 fix for the problem that only powers the DCM module when the ignition is turned on. This may be a better option and allows the front speakers and microphone to work.

If the battery has gone flat multiple times you will probably have to replace it due to the battery now having reduced power storage.
