My 2022 Subaru Outback engine won't start after I press "start engine", and after few seconds "BSD / RCTA disabled" was shown on dash. Does anyone know what might be causing this, or ever experience this? No accident to the car, and had a oil change service a few days ago.

AFAIK there is no relationship between either of those functions and starting - unless maybe those symbols indicate your anti theft mode is activated. Assuming it's in park and brake is applied and fob battery is not dead you can try holding panic button 3 - 5 secs then press lock button 2x.

First I'd try holding the fob close to the start button (this is a quick fix for low fob battery) and if that works, replace fob battery. Or try your other fob.

Many thanks for all your replies. It is a dead battery issue. The battery was only a few days over 3 years, and the inspection from recent oil change shows it is in good condition (i guess green on inspection report is good), and car headlights were still very bright, so I did not think it was the battery. any known issues about Subaru battery? because the previous battery was dead / weak only a couple of weeks after the new car was purchased, and the dealer replaced it for me. and, now the replacement battery went dead after 3 years. Got it replaced with a non-subaru battery this time.

I guess you haven't been to the Gen 6 forum section yet. There's a battery sticky thread. Some people are killing batteries faster than others. I daily drive my 21 in upstate, NY (so decently hot summers, cold winters), still on the original battery but it's garaged at home. It even survived almost 3 weeks dormant in January/February when I went on a trip.
