2024 Outback Touring - No Dark Mode in Google Maps on Android Auto

While using AA and Google Maps, it always remains in Light Mode and is very distracting at night.
I've tried the settings on my phone, the settings in Google Maps within AA, as well as settings in the head unit and can find nowhere where I can enable or force Dark Mode for Google Maps; all I can do is activate the satellite view in Google Maps settings which is darker than Light Mode but still not ideal. Has anyone found a workaround for this? TIA

Discovered something after posting. The dash brightness dial. If it's turned up all the way to the dot, AA Google Maps is locked in bright mode. Turning the dial down past the click to the top of the solid line or anywhere below that and Google Maps will auto switch to night mode when in navigation mode.

You can also have the big screen adjust brightness independently of the dash light rheostat. That's how we have both of ours, search in the settings on the big screen and you'll find the toggle. For now it sounds like you've discovered the easy solution of not having the rheostat al the way up.
