This seems like a pretty good bang for the buck:

6GEN Liberty/Legacy 3.6R Supercharger System | Raptor Superchargers

I've had turbos, but never a supercharger. Interesting...
$3600 USD up to 40% HP gain on 3.6R
Depending on selected tune, I imagine you'd feel 325-350HP when you tromp on it.

And they claim it's a 2 hour " leisurely" bolt-on. "Easily removed". "Fits under all factory covers".

Doesn't sound much harder than an aftermarket cold air intake

Anyone done this? How did it work out? Intercooler idea?

[also, please note: not especially interested in what my dealer thinks about this]

Sounds impressive.
Do they offer or suggest how to upgrade the rest of the drivetrain so it can withstand the added torque?
The stock CVT certainly won't handle the extra torque for very long. 40% increase is quite a bit.

I don't know if the WRX/STi transmission/differentials can be readily swapped into an OB. There are certainly lots of go-fast parts for the WRX that are marketed to handle extra power output.

This has come up in the Gen 5 subforum a few times over the years (try the advanced search tool) but I don't think anyone has attempted it. I suspect your time and money would be better spent on a performance vehicle. AFAIK, this place offers the only worthwhile tuning service for your vehicle, and I'm sure he's familiar with this SC: Xtreme Racing Tuning – Viciously Tuned, Driven hard

In my experience Raptor's expertise and guarantees are pretty lacking.

They guaranteed their product to fit my Gen 5 and after installing it would not work.

They offered to pay for modifications on their own product from a local muffler shop.

When I went to a muffler shop with that price I was laughed at for their pricing.

I would not purchase their products based solely on their claims.

the Xtreme racing tuning site has an article on a supercharged 3.6 … the gains are right at the 395nm mark for the torque. The dyno power graph leaves out the new torque curve, shows the old HP and torque, with the new HP on there.

the pic of the car looks like there is a lot of custom intake plumbing for that one. A lot more $$$ past just the supercharger kit.

You need an engine tune and someone to tune the CVT if you go this route. The CVT can be manipulated, at least they can in the CVT Forester XT and WRX.

I'm not running into anybody or any post about fitment issues but expect some modification of sorts when you install one.

Not sure about the 2-hour thing because to do any kind of boost properly you have to have the right size fuel injectors to supply the fuel.

As far as intercoolers go, look at WTA intercoolers from places like Frozen Boost. I use a type 13 on my 2001 H6 and it's attached straight onto the throttle body with the coolant hoses running around to the front of the car where the small radiator, fan and pump reside. My intake air temperatures under boost tend to stay under 30° over ambient.

I am getting somewhere around 450 horsepower off the crankshaft. I calculated this using 306 at the wheels and about a 30 to 35% loss through the automatic transmission with the torque converter unlocked.
