4th gen 2.5i 6mt ECU Tuning (open source)

I'm an ape when it comes to software, but years ago I had an 05 legacy GT that I was successfully able to tune with tactrix, ECU flash, romraider. Those "for off road use only" options are lovely. I just kind of guessed right and everything worked out 🤷‍♂️
I can't for the life of me get ECU FLASH to recognize the 2012 outback 2.5i 6mt. I can read and pull the rom but it's "undefined" as in I can only save it, I can't do anything with it. I fumbled around in experimental defs and found similar models maybe 1 year off, but I have no idea how to even add the definition from those to ECU flash. I've spent hours on this. Trying to make it work.
Has anybody else had any success open source tuning fourth generation Subaru's that are naturally aspirated.?
I have tactrix 2.0 and windows 10
Romraider logger connects but with "unknown cal id" whatever the means
* Just throwing s*** at the wall here. Hoping something sticks eventually.

I found a 2012 legacy 2.5i mt definition, and a 2011 Subaru outback 6mt def. I'm wondering how different they could really be? I'm thinking about giving it the old college try. But with my luck the car won't start and I won't be able to flash my original back on there. 😐

Good luck and let us know the outcome - you're probably not the only one looking to do this. But without a turbo, doing a self-tune is not likely to give you enough improvement.
I'm looking to shut off the EGR cel. I did a delete. Also I want to remove any downstream 02 corrections so I can do a cat delete and shut off the the p0420 that will follow. As far as performance i'd probably just polish my heads, eliminate any air friction in the intake manifold/exhaust manifold, timing is set very conservative by Subaru for all elevations, weather, etc. you can really wake these na motors up. People who don't do the p&p work get minimal results. The older aluminum ej253 intake manifolds flow a lot of air when you sand and polish the inside. I blew a healthy auto transmission doing that from the huge increase in low end torque. 😆 Hell, switching to full synthetic oil in the diffs, engine, etc I feel a nice difference.👌 people really underestimate air friction and physics when it comes to gains.
I'll let you know if I try with the rom, it "should" work 😬. I have my 08 outback for backup if I brick this one.

UPDATE:
I ended up paying someone to give me my specific definition, I imagine they merged it or copied it from a pre-existing already working ECU flash definition. I was able to flash the car today. Now I can edit parameters in ECU flash as well and do force pass, timing, fuel, etc. I'll try to upload the new definition that I had to use if anybody needs it. Just let me know.

That's fantastic news - glad your persistence paid off.

When you're satisfied with your ECU edits, can you post some of the theory and practice behind your DIY tuning and what it's accomplished for your car? Resources?
I will, I'm going to start data logging and using the road Dyno , also, I'll post up my results. I'm going to post my tuners email, he said you can really get some power out of these cars by deleting the PZEV logic. You can directly reach out to him if you want. I asked him if I could post on this forum.
