'96 temperature sensor, aftermarket gauge needed...

Long story short, I gutted a 1996 Legacy Outback for my 1974 Chenowth Longtail rail buggy. Since I used an aftermarket ECU, I have access to the coolant temperature with my app/laptop/etc, but am trying to put together a completely "analog" solution to back that up when I don't want a tablet getting destroyed, etc. Basically a regular dash cluster.

I'd like to utilize the OEM location for the 1/8 BSPT thermistor that the gauge was hooked up to. I no longer have the Outback to rip the gauge loose, and I'm having a real hard time finding an aftermarket gauge that has a BSPT sensor. If I could find that, I'd be very pleased.

I can handle some low-level electronic stuff, so a cheap ebay gauge may be able to get a potentiometer involved and work? I'd love to know the actual specs of the sending unit itself, it's a single-wire simple probe that I can get some resistance info myself by testing it. I'd also like to know if anyone's already tackled this problem and had a solution.

Thanks in advance, just don't want to have to splice in my coolant lines for an NPT sensor if I don't have to. I'm about to put the cylinder heads back on from resurfacing and getting ready for the dash cluster is becoming the priority.

Wish I had all the pictures and build thread material still handy, data loss a couple years ago before the engine swap. I've built this thing from nothing. I do have a pretty useless YouTube channel and FB page, but far from comprehensive on either.

Kinda stuck with the idea of using the OEM sensor, but starting to lose favor for an in-line 1/8NPT solution. It's becoming more than a little distracting from the current work needed. I'm sure there is a gauge on the market that a potentiometer adjustment is already on, just finding it would be my issue. Bleh.

You built the tube chassis? Love it. When your project is done please update this thread of make a new one - hopefully with a video of it doing what it's meant to do.
