Access to EGR valve?

I currently have an '08 3.0L 6-cylinder LLBean wagon, and am hoping to inspect and possibly replace my EGR valve. However, from actually looking at the location of the valve itself, it appears rather difficult to access on the 6-cylinder models. Does anyone out there have the general directions to access and remove the EGR valve? By no means can I consider myself a shop-worthy mechanic, but I am more than capable of following instructions and diagrams. Any info. anyone could pass along would be rather appreciated. Thank you.

Welcome @trekbicyclerider - the factory service manual (2008 Service Manual pdf, page 1906) says EGR can be removed without taking off the intake manifold. When I replaced my EGR I tried but ended up removing the intake manifold for access and didn't need to remove the starter. There's 4 bolts - two on the rear with two underneath. It's recommended to replace the 3 metal gaskets when reinstalling.

Thanks, Kiwisix, for the response. I actually was using this same diagram when trying to get to the EGR. I had no problem removing the intake chamber, but didn't even see a point in removing the starter. I disengaged the EGR from the EGR pipe, and then ran into the same problem as you with removing the EGR from the intake manifold. Do you happen to know a page from the service manual that would assist me with removing the intake manifold, indicating the screw locations, or could you take some pics. showing the same thing? And will I need actual access to underneath the car to get to any of the bolts? Thanks again.
