Hi. I'm REALLY wanting to add bluetooth to my 2001 Outback VDC. I've looked at a new head unit option and apparently that can get pretty ugly for someone who isn't up to a hassle or spending more than a couple hundred bucks. I've located one alleged adapter on ebay HERE and i've sent the seller an email as photo doesn't match description. Has anyone had any luck adding BT to the single disc McIntosh system without getting into adapting wiring from head unit to the amp or virtually changing the entire system? Or, can anyone provide easy, step by step instructions for another work around?

I have a Bluetooth FM receiver in my power outlet below the radio it works well.

Something like this...

You can simply connect it to your phone via Bluetooth, the transmitter puts out an FM signal, all you do is select a frequency you want to use that doesn't fall close to a local radio station, then tune your car radio to that same frequency and boom, done.

The only thing is that you don't really have any great control through the transmitter but some of them will still allow Siri operations.

All I use mine for is listening to music from Spotify on my phone, and answering calls.
I do still get some radio noise but that's to be expected (it's a pretty cheap option though)
