Anybody encounter numerous dashboard warnings after cold weather start?

Two weeks ago I remote started our 2020 Limited XT in cold weather (minus 15 degrees F), then got into it approximately 5 minutes later. I was surprised to see numerous warning lights including Check Engine and AT Oil Temp. After dropping it into drive, wheels spun as if the transmission had lost its ability to divide power across all 4 wheels.

Time was short to make a critical appointment so I chose to drive it 3 hours, the entire time the dashboard continued to display what I concluded were meaningless warnings (yes I know I took a chance here), see attached pic.

I found a Subaru dealer at my destination who agreed to take a look. The service advisor came out soon after advising all was well. He explained the tech had done some sort of reset and that "this sometimes happens during cold weather starts due to a temporary voltage drop", even though nothing was actually wrong.

The problem has not reappeared, but this has shaken my confidence in what I considered a reliable "new" car (< 30K miles), especially since I live in a cold weather area.

Anybody out there had a similar experience? If so did you get a different response from the dealer, including them considering it a warrantee issue?

Thanks in advance for any and all responses.

Also consider that with the level of integration in modern vehicles when one system goes offline for one reason or another it may cascade to other systems. Eyesight off/disabled would result in collision-avoidance and lane departure system being disabled. An ABS issue would result in collision-avoidance, RAB and traction control being disabled. Combinations abound.

And, yes, a low voltage condition can cause the computers to go crazy.

Last week when it was real cold I had a few warnings.
Eyesight off (line through the word), RAB, forget what else was lit. Drove to the convenience store that's practically at the end of my street and back (it was cold! And I hadn't turned the Outback on in a couple days, so wanted to run it).
A little disappointing since I bought this vehicle in Nov 21. But I assumed it was the cold, and not a major issue. Been fine since.

Lately, we have had days where it is as cold as -27 C. Starting up the car, the only thing I have had is the EyeSight being disabled due to the cold temperatures. This triggers 3 different warning lights: Forward Collision OFF, Lane Assist OFF and Reverse Automatic Braking (RAB) OFF. I also get the message in the CID as shown in the picture above. These all go away once the cabin warms up to about -10, which happens after just a few minutes of driving.

I only get the three aformentioned warning lights and the EyeSight message. I DO NOT get the AT Oil Temp or a Check Engine light.

That's pretty much what I experienced. A very cold day, started ok, drove 15mins, left the car while I shopped for 15mins, came back and car wouldn't start. These are similar to my issues.

Car did start after another 10 mins but Xmode was flashing and engine light came on.

All this reset after it sat for an hour off in my driveway.

Thanks all for the replies! caddy16v your Legacy dashboard looks the most similar to what I saw on my Outback.

One follow up question - did anyone's issue continue after the vehicle was warmed up? Based on the posts it seems like everyone's dash went back to normal after driving for a few miles, whereas mine did not go away after driving over 3 hours. It took a dealer reset to get all back to normal.

There are so many interconnected computers in cars. Not just one, but several are involved in the operation of the car. I sometimes miss the days of tinkering with a car and checking the timing with the timing light. The kid across the street thought it was a small handheld floodlight and could not comprehend why I would set the timing on an engine.

If one thinks about it, there is a computer for the engine and transmission then others that handle other control functions.

I posted this exact thing 2 years ago to the date.

It never happened again. Don't sweat it.

Feb 3,2023, minus 20C today in ontario, auto started my 2021 crosstrek, drove it for 6 minutes to grocery store, no issues. In store 8 minutes, drove for 5, all kinds of lights came on engine oil, check engine, rab off, assist off, drove sluggish into driveway? Wouldn't reverse unless I pressed heavy on acceptor, felt like engine struggling

Just had something very similar happen to our 2022 Outback Limited. It was -16F with wind chill to -45F. Car was fine from home to a destination about 10 miles away. When I started the car 3 hours later to return home, the dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree. Icons and warnings blinking all over, 'BRAKE' warning on solid despite the fact that the parking brake was definitely released. Engine was fine, but the car would barely limp along at 35-40 miles with transmission stuck in one of the lower gears. When we called the dealer, they said ours was about the 10th call that morning with the same issue. This type of cold, while not common in Vermont, does happen periodically and I'm feeling very uneasy about being left on the side of the road in lethally cold conditions. The dealer will look at it Friday and I won't be surprised at all if they simply reset it with no diagnosis or correction of the underlying issue. <sigh>.
