Okay, possibly I am just dumb, but can someone please explain what Low, Mid, Max exactly means with regards to the sensitivity?

Does the sensitivity indicate how dark it needs to be for the headlights to come on? If so, which setting turns them on sooner (max)?

On my old car my lights came on when I thought it was too dark, so I installed some tinted film over the sensor so they would come on a little sooner. I'm really hoping that Subaru fix this little annoyance for me.

Different Settings Don't Change Anything

I went thru the trial and error and am no closer to understanding this than before.

I tried MAX and the lights turned on about 8 seconds after I entered my garage.
I tried MIN and the lights turned on about... 8 seconds after I entered my garage.

There was no apparent difference.

I do not understand if MIN and MAX refer to:

light levels in the absolute ("fewer than 200 lumens" therefore turn on the lights)
or
light level differences (coming from 1000-lumen environment and entering a 200-lumen environment, therefore the 800 lumen difference is sufficient to turn on the lights)
or
the light level differences over time (lumens dropped from 1000 to 200 over 3 seconds is sufficient to turn on the lights)

Here in Florida, going from sunny skies to indoor garage is a many-times-a-day activity. I want the lights to go on quickly.

For what it's worth, when I go from dark to light, the lights go on in about 1 second.

Could Auto Headlight Sensitivity refer to something else altogether?

I'm referring back from memory, but there are two places to adjust the headlights. With the paddles on the steering wheel, the adjustment is for how often the car checks for changes in the light. i.e. unless you want your headlights to go on and off every time you go through an underpass, set this to MINIMUM. On the starlink car settings screen there is an adjustment for the outside light brightness, which turns on the headlights. Now don't take this fro gospel, YMMV. there is a youtube video about setting the steering wheel setting and what it does.
