Can't receive texts?!

Picked up our 2019 yesterday. Wife claims she got texts with the salesman, but we don't now.

I can make and receive phone calls, the contact list is there, and I even got Android Auto to work; but no texts. I pushed the button on the phone screen, but nothing happens. Yes, I read through the manual, but I don't get the response shown in the manual.

While "working" on it I sent a bunch of texts from my phone to my wife's connected to the car. They showed up on the phone, but not on the car. However, someone else sent her a text and was sent two (2) automatic replies. That has never happened. (but then her phone updated a couple days ago, so that might be the update rather than the car...)

Any idea how to get texts on the car? Thanks.

It is a LG G5 android phone. The phone immediately goes into android auto, though the car does not because we aren't using the cable.
The phone calls word, but the texts don't.
When I get out of android auto on the phone, the results are the same; phone, no text.

I haven't tried anything with a cable other than Google Maps; but I shouldn't need a cable for texts, should I?

In bluetooth, messaging was turned to off. I turned it on and all the texts she got recently showed up on her phone; except the ones from me. They weren't on the car, but were on the phone. I sent her a couple texts; they showed up on the phone, but not on the car.
I tried a 2nd phone and that worked properly. Texts showed up on the car, and replies were sent.
So it works now (thank you very much...) but why does it ignore texts from my phone. Also a LG G5 android, identical to hers.

I just started to play with Android Auto on my LG G6 with my 2016. I noticed that when in Android Auto app the phone goes into "Do not disturb". This prevents calls and texts while driving. Reduces distractions LOL. Anyway, open settings and go into the Sound tab/section to find Do not Disturb. I set it's mode to Priority only. That allows "Contacts" that are Favorites to still contact you while driving. Find each other in your contact list and tap the star on the contact to make it a Favorite. That should allow calls and texts to work between you two.

I could not find a way to disable Android Auto from turning on Do Not Disturb. The above was my work around. Hope it helps.

New iPhone Now No Texts

2018 Outback Touring. Have been using a iPhone 7+ with no problems rcv'ing text messages on the unit. Several days ago I activated a new iPhone Xs and text messages now do not show up on the unit. iOS 12.0.1. Have checked all the settings on the phone and all are set correctly. This is in Bluetooth mode. Anyone else encountering this problem?

I "think" I may have the answer.
Android Auto receives SMS, not MMS.
I checked with several of the people whose messages I can receive and they all have IPhones that send SMS. My phone sends MMS.
I don't think there is any work around for this; it just can't receive MMS.

I am not sure this it the right answer; anyone more knowledgeable than me have an opinion.

Has anyone figured out a way to have the text notifications cleared on your phone if you are using the car’s bluetooth to read you the texts? It’s kind of annoying to have to go into your phone after you are done driving just to clear text notifications you already read...
