I'm at a farm now with a long, hilly gravel driveway, currently covered with snow and ice (in SW VA). I need to put some more capable tires on my 2016 Outback and I'm trying to decide between the Coopers and the Falkens.

Thoughts?

235.60.18 specs.... Since I am soon to be in need.

Coopers have a slightly lower UTQG rating 620/680,
MOAR Tread 12/32 vs 11/32
1# lighter @ 34 vs 35.
Made in USA vs Thailand

America's Tire (Discount Tire for some) has them listed at $188, before a $60 rebate. * Rebate shows on Tire Rack website.
Falkens @ $211, no rebate currently.

I ended up snagging a set of Coopers. I felt their specs were pretty much similar to the Falkens. Swapped out Michelin Defender LTX M/S2's...
No Tread Growling. Just low white noise, so far.

I chose a stock size 225/60x18 Cooper Discoverer Road & Trail for my 2025 Outback Onyx. I'm in Michigan and have been swapping winter tires for over 20 years and I've gotten tired of that so I decided to get a tire that I could run all year. I also wanted a tire that would perform well in light off-road dirt/gravel roads and work well in the snow.

I put on my R&T's at about 500 miles and now have 2,000 miles on the car. These tires are quiet. They don't squirm on grooved pavement. They are excellent in snow and pretty good on ice, too. Not a dedicated winter tire good, but pretty close. In my 225/60x18 size they have an XL load rating and they are a little heavier than the stock Yokohama Avid GT's but I'm not sure how much the extra weight affects the fuel economy yet. I track my mileage but with the cold and winter blend fuel and that I put the tires on a new car, I just don't know for sure. My gut feeling is that I lost about 1 mpg.

I really wanted to go to 17's with 65 series tires for a little more sidewall offroad but didn't want to purchase a new set of wheels in addition to tires. I have no regrets with these R&T's - it's a great tire!
