Looks like the sunroof shade of my Gen 3 Outback has some kind of stain in it, it has been there since I bought the car a couple of years back. The same applies to the roof liner and the A-pillar liners, will post images in a couple of days when I get a couple of other things done first. The car interior is beige, which makes it very luminous (which I like), but also makes the dirt and stains stand out like nothing else.

Some people use some kind of textile cleaner, and use a spray bottle to spread a small amount of it on the roof, and wipe it off with a micro fiber cloth. What would be a safe way to do this without causing a sag to the roof liner? I figure warmer liquids are bad, and lots of liquid is also probably bad.

The other thing to try if the other things don’t work is a mixture of white vinegar and water. One part vinegar to two parts warm water.

Thanks guys,

I didn't try the baking soda slurry yet, but vinegar and water mix was effective. Took 2.5 hours of elbow grease to get rid of it, the stain has likely been years in the sun roof shade. It's no longer visible.

Still need to clear up the driver's side sun shade, maybe I'll try the soda water slurry for that one.
