On this cluster there's no idiot lights to the right or above the TPMS light.

Also, I must say, this Schrader retrofit kit that I replaced the Subaru/Schrader TPMS sensors with is a HUGE improvement. It works great. MUCH better than the useless light.

 

So here's some circuit information. PIN 2 is the output for the stupid light. PIN 7 / #7 is the instrument cluster. What is #10 (The "Body Integrated Unit?" ) Could it be as simple as cutting the wire to PIN 2? Is PIN 2 12 volts, or a grounding out, or something else? This Subaru Select Monitor that attaches to PIN 9, is that a tool that among other functions can program TPMS sensors? I'm thinking PIN 9 is serial data? This module is under the front seat. Wire color for PIN 2?

 

If I'm reading this right, it's simply PIN 2 grounds out to turn on the stupid light. Cut wire to PIN 2 and life would be fabulous! IF I'm reading this right!

 

Or, maybe simply unplug the TPMS module? Unless the light in the cluster needs the ground to turn off (defaulting to ON setup) ?

 

Actually looking at my posts, I would say in an open circuit (no grounding) the light should be OFF. Maybe just unplug the stupid TPMS module? Unless that turns on the CHECK ENGINE light? LOL

 

So, this is what I found out tonight about the "body integrated unit,"

"The Body Integrated Unit seems to be a secondary computer of sorts to the ECM. It controls things like the air climate control, windshield wipers, power windows, immobilizer, display gauges - essentially, everything electrical that doesn't directly control the engine."

I've been thinking, there must be some kind of connection between the TPMS module and the OBDII connector, perhaps with the body integrated unit (BIU) as an intermediary. Because I know you hook tools up to the OBDII connector to read and write the TPMS sensor codes.

Also wondering if the Subaru dealers still use this "Subaru Select Monitor," or if they use newer non-Subaru tools to talk to the OBDII connector instead?

Still wondering if the BIU would react if I just unplugged the TPMS module, or if it would be better and safer to just cut the wire coming from PIN 2 to the stupid light? LOL

I'm on a quest! haha

 

And here's the wiring diagram. I think the wire that controls the stupid light is RED.

I enlarged the TPM Module for us.

 

I'm thinking when the RED/YELLOW wire is grounded, the stupid light comes on. Cut RED/YELLOW wire, no more stupid light. Will have to inspect the TPM module to see if I see a RED/YELLOW wire.

ANYONE have any thoughts? LOL

yes. please update as im about to trial and error that wire(s) mentioned. i guess i could pay the ridiculous cost for new sensors and then pay the cost to install… but my money tree died last month. so… im good with a little snip snip to interrupt a light i dont want.
