If you get the Safety & Security Plus package while purchasing the car, you get a huge discount to normal rates. I don't remember the exact numbers off the top of my head, but for me, it was cheaper to pay for that package for 6 years up front than it would have been to get the fob-based remote start. The other benefit is that I can do remote start from anywhere and not just when in line of sight of the car, as long as the car is within range of an AT&T tower. And you also get the other functions such as remote lock/unlock, set controls/alerts for vehicle speed, boundaries, etc. if you lend your car to someone else, locate your car on a map if you are away from it - and that last function I believe even helps with remote immobilization in case your car is ever stolen.
