Have always appreciated Subaru putting a large indicator on the side mirror housing
My other car still has the small indicator on the mirror.

Have you had an eye doctor check your peripheral vision ? At almost 70y/o and been wearing glasses since my early 40's mine is tested yearly. Our 24 has the big light on the mirror housing. It seems I often don't notice it when it activates, it's almost like I look right past it. It's in a weird spot that like some have said requires a refocus away from the mirror I'm actually looking at. I suppose I see it in my peripheral vision but it hardly stands out or works well for me in this location on the drivers side. For some reason it's more noticeable on the passenger side. Must be the distance between the light and myself, and wider focal vison/path of my eyes.
I know, it's no substitute for an audible warning though. Like I said, for as many beeps as these cars make, it's mind boggling they didn't include that as one of them.If you activate the turn signal the light changes from steady to flashing.
I'll play devil's advocate, and say that the vehicle makes too many beeps already, I don't want/need yet another one. In heavy traffic, I typically signal my lane change shortly after the car in the adjacent lane is far enough ahead that the other driver doesn't see it, but the driver behind them does see it (hoping in vain that they'll leave the spot open...). The blind spot indicator is almost always still on for the passing vehicle, I don't want/need a beep every time I do this.I know, it's no substitute for an audible warning though. My 2020 Outback limited will sound a rapid series of beeps if I turn on the turn signal while the Blind Spot Indicator is active.Yeah, too bad they didn't make the car beep if you hit the turn signal with the BSD active. The car beeps for every other damn reason other than that.
Exactly. It's a simple fix that other automakers use that should have been included. Our Mazda3 does it and it's far more helpful than the blinky light.Making the beep an option would be fine though.
That's interesting. My 2020 Outback Limited only beeps with rapid flashing when moving in reverse. When going forward I only get rapid Flashing with Blind Spot Detection when the turn signal is on, no beeping. My 2020 Outback limited will sound a rapid series of beeps if I turn on the turn signal while the Blind Spot Indicator is active.
