I am suggesting this be opened up to any shop with proven Subaru experience and know how.
In some (many) parts of the country there just aren't enough Subarus to support single-brand repair shops.
Good point; I just changed the title from "Subaru Only Repair Shops" to "Subaru Repair Shops" to accommodate this slight change.

But let's keep it limited to independent shops only. There are lots of ways to find dealer-affiliated service facilities - should you ever need them - and we don't need that here cluttering things up.

Adding Boxer Automotive out of Richland,MI.

They were able to help with installing timing belt and water pump for me at a great price in great time. Josh was very friendly and took great care of me. I'd recommend them to anyone in the Michigan area.
Hope we can give them more business.

Top-notch independant shop; woman-owned & woman-managed if that's important to you (it is to me), they're good and honest enough that I gladly make the 66-mile drive to have my cars serviced there, especially back when I drove a 2nd-gen Prius.

One of their wrench-twiddlers is a Subaru Certified Master Mechanic.

"Subaru-only" eliminates numerous quality shops around here that know them well enough ... I can't think of one that is Subaru-only.
See post number #21 - we opened it up to any idependent shop with proven Subaru experience and know how.

The title still says “Independent Subaru repair shops” because they do at times require some knowledge of the brand, e.g. boxer engine and AWD systems.

TEXAS ; AWDTuning in Flower Mound (DFW area)

I've used them twice for extensive, deep-wrenching type of work. Both times everything went well.

Late to the party here, but in Upstate NY (Chenango County and surrounding areas) we have Golden’s Body Shop. They are a NYS licensed Repair, Inspection, and retail shop. I’ve taken cars there for body work, but I haven’t had any engine/mechanical work there. That said, they know their stuff, and have a boneyard full of previously loved Subies that met a tragic end. I think shop rate is $95/hr.

Any chance you know of a website I can link? I couldn't find anything but a Facebook account.
Let me check on that and I’ll post it if I find it.

Digging further into Google, this is the website I’ve found for them- Golden's Body Shop LLC

Unfortunately it doesn’t look like it’s got prices shop rates or towing rates listed.

I recommend this shop, which I have used for many years. The owner, Josh Cruz, is knowledgeable, competent, careful, honest, reasonable, and will take the time to explain thoroughly. A big plus is that he has had long and deep experience with Subarus. I think he is the go-to guy in the northern half of the city.

If you don't mind crossing state lines, @OFFM recommended EcoTECH in St. Louis Missouri.

guess im striking out in central il .
Not sure where you are in central Illinois, but in addition to EcoTECH in the STL area, there's an indy shop in Quincy that says it hasn't done a lot with Subarus but has a solid overall reputation and is willing to work with customers. Otherwise I haven't found anything else.
