Continuing my prior post.

The wipers that came with my 2024 Outback were light weight and made noise on the return cycle

Based on a Previous response to my post I talked to my service guy and they replaced them with ones that look a lot like Bosch wipers.

Problems solved.

I think that was a standard update. I got a new set and they were like yours. The parts guy said they either changed the blade or the supplier, and folks like the new blades more.

Might be right. The description has a lot of replacement numbers
  • Features:
  • Superior, all-weather performance - innovative memory curve steel beam design.
  • Infinite number of pressure points, compared to ordinary wiper blades with 6-8 pressure points - results in cleaner, clearer wipe for better visibility in every season.
  • One piece wiper construction - resists snow and ice clogging.
  • Aerodynamic profile - reduces wind lift at higher speeds, providing quiet operation with less chatter.

    Replaces Part Number: 86542FL030, 86542FL031, 86542SJ020, 86542XC03A, SOA591B726C

Below is the short (passenger) wiper on my '24. It has a tiny 'aerofoil' at the very end, at 90-deg... and a gap, the larger wiper doesn't have (see pic below). But the new wipers seem to have a much larger (and curved) aerofoil indeed. Is this something I should get for free, or will have to pay for them? If the former, should I talk to the parts guy, or the service guy? I'd just remove them myself (takes seconds), and get them exchanged, if possible. I definitely want to fix this problem before I encounter rain on a trip. Thank you for bringing it up.

Thank you. I just sent an email to the parts manager of the only Subaru dealer in town, and see what happens. Also asked him how much, in case they start giving me the run around, I'd just buy them. The service department was supposed to get back to me about the factory mounting damage on my wheels, and never heard back from them. It's a corporate owner with a very bad reputation, so not expecting much from them, but we'll see. Thanks again.

The blades on my 24 OBW make an annoying noise on the return...
I got the new style when they were replaced under warranty on my 2020. They made an annoying noise too for about the first half hour of driving in the rain, I was starting to wish I hadn't replaced them.

But then the noise went away and hasn't come back. Something must have worn off the new blades, cuz now they're fine.

The only dealer in town says I'd have to do a regular service visit for this, and wait like an hour, so f**k them. Plus I don't want them driving my car, potentially scuffing my door sills and door panel just for that, so will keep the original ones, and if they're that bad when I eventually test them in the rain, I'd just buy the new ones. Or preferably, buy the Bosch ones, so if anybody has the part numbers for those, it'd be great. The new ones cost $15.66 and $21.56 discounted, so I'd compare the Bosch ones with those prices. Thank you.

After too many experiences where premium aftermarket wipers either cost too much, didn't perform, or gave up too soon, I'm now on Team OEM Wipers. I'm too lazy to drive to the dealer, so I ordered them from subaruonlineparts.com. Got the same ones with the airfoil. Nice folks helped me with some questions on my order, and they're a sponsor here, too.
