I'm not sure I would call it new, revised maybe. I like the chain but 4 more lb.ft of TQ is not going to make a big difference. This car needs something other than a 4 speed auto!

 

Well, it is a new block with longer stroke (I bet it uses the same bore spacing as 3.6 H6 engine) so I would say it is totally new although related to 3.6 engine. Probably has little in common with current 2.5 NA engine.

 

I hope they addressed the famous HG issue that have affected mainly earlier 2.5's but I see some late models issues now and then.

Has anybody heard any news on the Impreza? I about the WRX/STI changes I'm interested in the base hatch and sedan

 

It would be nice to see the 4 cyl get direct gas injection and 200hp, this should be easy to achieve. I have the 4 cyl in my 2006 OB, it is really slow and can be scary merging or passing on the highway. I guess that is why they offer the 3.6.
