There won't be a fault if the start stop is turned off. It only sets this fault when it's in a start-stop mode and the engine starts back up then the voltage from the pressure sensor is wrong for the pressure it needs to see.

The pump keeps fluid moving when the engine is off so when it starts up there's pressure retaining gear engagement. With a pump that is not working, the engine start up has the input shaft turning the mechanical pump and since the CVT is in gear you get the hard kick.

Look at the trans harness for any damage that may have occurred during shipping.

The Auxillary Oil Pump in your car will be bolted to the side of the transmission toward the bellowing and close to the bottom near the pan. There is an electrical connection that should be checked that, unfortunately, runs up the side of the transmission to the top where the harness connects to the rest of the car. I would start by tracing this connection down for any obvious breaks.

Just my two cents, low fluid level will cause other problems separate from a start stop related pump fault.

There is a TSB addressing P2797. TSB 16-145-23 announces availability of new reprogramming files for the Transmission Control
Module (TCM) developed to address cases of DTC P2797 (Electrical/Auxiliary Transmission Fluid Pump “A” Performance/Stuck Off”). A shock or surge can also be felt during engine restart when
auto start-stop activates. This condition is caused by engine torque not being transferred correctly bythe forward clutch system during engine restart resulting in a false detection of a transmission fluid pump failure.

Recently ,I went to local official Subaru service . They used SSM5-r for Reprograming of transmission. They couldn’t find any files in the Subaru cloud because of European subscription of SSM5 ! Could anyone help with CD with all reprograming files from December 2023? I read that it could be purchased for 75$! Of course I will pay to that kind man! Wishes Miro.

I have a 2024 Limited XT with 11K miles that I bought new. The car gave the codes P0700 and P2797 in June 2024 so I took it to the dealer. They reset the Aux Trans pump via software to "fix" the issue which didn't sound like a repair to me. So sure enough here we are in late July 2024 and the car did it again yesterday while my daughter was driving it. The car is now at the dealer for service and I'm waiting to hear what they say this time. I want something replaced this time but reading this forum and elsewhere it sounds like it could be many things. This car is just barely one year old. Not happy with this.
In addition yesterday morning before the check engine light came on later in the day, the car wouldn't turn off and after we finally got it to turn off then after a restart we couldn't get it to shift out of neutral. The shifter was not stuck. We could move it to D or R but it stayed in neutral. There is something not right with my car.

These symptoms can occur if your battery is faulty/not fully charged.

There is a current maintenance campaign to replace the originally installed batteries with an upgraded battery.

Have you had your battery tested and/or replaced by the dealer?

Might be worth mentioning this and having the dealer test the battery.

You should be able to have the battery replaced under warranty and at no cost BUT this depends on a battery test that the dealer will perform. If the battery fails the test the battery will be replaced.

Follow up to my other posts.
The battery was fine but the codes indicated that they update the TCM software so they did. They kept it for a few days (they gave me a loaner) and ran road tests. I got it back four days ago and it has been fine. My kids have been driving it more than me but when I have had a chance, I noticed that the stop start is no longer jarring. So they fixed that with the software update as well. I wish that all Subaru owners could get this update. They should have released the car with this software to start with.
I don't have any software release numbers to pass on. They didn't provide those details.

Our Outbacks have a mechanical shifter, so I don't like that you put it in gear, and nothing happens. I suspect something wrong with the CVT. What did dealer say was the reason for that? I have a '24 too, but so far, other than the 'cicada' noise early on, it has been working well so far, with almost 16K on the clock.
