NOTE: Not an ad for ikea!

Product name:
IKEA SUNNERSTA container

I always want to find a car trash bin without taking the space of cup holder. Finally i figure out a perfect product to hook on the side wall of passenger seat. This bin is from ikea and only $1. More importantly, it fits flawlessly and you can actually stack several as trash bin, phone holder, etc. I get a 3d printer and may make a lid for it but overall this bin is almost perfect i would say. Just share it and hopefully can be helpful for some car owners.

I keep a mirco fiber towel in that slot. But being retired, I clean the cars whenever there's any unwanted crap in there. It's so bad, I vacuum them weekly with a little hand held vacuum or the small shop vac in the garage. I had to pick a couple pieces of grass off the drivers floor mat today. Seems a piece must have come loose from my Teva sandal... I'll tell you being retired it tough... LOL

But, that's a good find.

Yes exactly! My girl is totally fine with it lol. To me the storages on the console side and center are awkward and this bin definitely gives me more flexibility.

do you have a link and is it ikea exclusive?
thanks!

I see something like it, 2 for $8.00

Ikea, is a hour drive from us... ;)

I see the amazon one is 1 gallon, that pretty big.

I have rubber floor mats,...I toss the loose trash on the front floor and take it with me when I get out of the car.
no need for a storage bin (if there is a lot I can bring the pail to the car,)

and @Max Capacity ...I am 1 hour 36 minutes out of them at the🇸🇪 Swede lumber yard. (99 miles)....and i have only picked furniture up there for others, ...never bought a thing.

Gee, I didn't realize keeping trash in the car is a thing. We tend to take our trash with us whenever we stop the car. I guess some areas of the plant don't have trash cans when you enter a public place, like a store or gas station. Are there gas stations that don't have trash cans between the gas pumps... ?

Just think how great the car must smell after sitting in the hot sun,

So, I'm not the only one that seems to think there are fewer public trash cans around. ;)

Oh yeah, I understand, the more trash receptacles, the more they have to pay to have emptied. So if they can make it more difficult to place your trash in our containers, we save money.

FWIW, last week we stayed at a hotel on Cape Cod, MA. When we went to the entrance of the bldg. where our room was, the trash bin was full, this was Tuesday about 4PM, next morning it was empty, after our day, when we returned, it was near full again.

I can see where keeping the ones at gas pumps full would discourage people from putting their trash in there. I have thought about that while pumping gas... I guess that's a sad statement of my thought process... LOL

Having previously run cleanup efforts in Portland's natural areas on Earth Day, I can assure you that a small segment of society just uses public areas for their trash disposal - so removing the containers does little to change their behavior.

One good thing I learned from doing it for several years though: The trailhead parking lots were generally much more clear of illegally dumped trash. This told me that others who were there for recreation, not illegal dumping, were picking it up and taking it home to dispose of it themselves.
