I had my 2001 outback sw broken into. They broke the rear hatch glass. None are available. Not from junk yards or dealer. Does anyone have one or can find one close to calif ? Not sure how I will get it here but I will update later. My ob is in near new condition since I bought it new and I had planned to keep it forever. Now this. Thanks for looking.

easier to buy the whole hatch from a pick / pull,...leave them your hatch.
(2000-2004 legacy outback, probably legacy wagon too), beware of the struts and how strong they are to lift the heavy hatch.

Yea, the glass place didnt mention much so I was planning to do some calls on my own on thursday as I have a city council committee meeting on wed. I also may just take the glass all out and install a clear plastic temporary cover for now. I also just found out that full coverage does not mean I can get a loaner car. Have my eye on a wagon for 700.00 and waiting for a reply. Thanks for the hint !

Yep. according to car-part.com, the 2 junkyards local to me (usually terrible selection, and I don't even bother) have a total of 13 complete hatches for $150-200. Looks like 50 results per page, and onto the 25th page, so almost 1300 tailgates in the US. And that's just selecting "Outback, w/o spoiler". There are 3 more options that would work. Find one close by in the right color and swap it out.

@johnre beware 1999 US spec is the older body,...so not a fit.

there is a part out of a 2001 llbean by San Jose, on our own forum's classified ads. (including a pic).
