Side mirrors do not move correctly with joy stick

Side mirrors do not respond to the toggle switch, Left mirror only moves to the left and does nothing when move the toggle to the right. Tilt up and down do not work. Similar problem right mirror.

Is this a joy stick problem, or a fuse or relay problem? Help.

Where are the fuses, relays and what are there numbers?

There are two motors for each mirror, one for left-right, the other up-down.

Any axis that works in one direction but not the other has good fusing, wiring, and motor - leaving only the switch as the suspect.

Any axis that has neither direction working, but with the other axis at least functioning, has good fusing and wiring - leaving only the switch and motor as suspect.

Remedy: Spray some electrical contact cleaner into the switch assembly and exercise the switches vigorously; this may fix everything. If not, start investigating deeper; you may need a new switch assembly or (on the up / down axis) new motor.

2008 schematic below; probably most years are similar to this.

The symptoms as described point toward a problem with the Remote Control Switch (joystick). That's the place to start looking.

Both mirrors move in one direction - the same one (left).
Neither mirror moves in any other direction (right, up, down).

Power for all the motors comes from the same circuit.
There is exactly one ground wire for the whole shebang.

The circuit is getting power and the ground is good since it does move. Fuse, relay, power wiring, or ground are eliminated as the root cause.

The Changeover Switch (left-off-right selector) is unlikely to be the root cause.

Problem is manifested in two independent devices (horizontal and vertical motors) in two independent systems (left and right mirrors), meaning the likelihood of the problem being in the motors and associated wiring is very, very small.

The common element is the joystick. The problem could be electrical or mechanical as already suggested.

Can you move the mirrors by hand? You may hear some clicking sounds as you GENTLY move them past their current limits.
I've seen many times the mirrors "stick" in a position, and the motors are unable to free them easily. Most of the time you can GENTLY play with the mirrors by hand, get them closely lined up(realigned/centered), and then make minor adjustments as needed.
Car washes are often the culprits for misaligned mirrors.
If you have a helper, have the helper operate the joystick while you feel the mirror for movement or vibration/noise from the motors.
Have wasps been seen flying around your mirrors? They can build nests behind the mirrors. Have you been off-roading in mud recently? Did you experience ice forming on the mirrors over the winter?
