Anyone ever had their car stuck in " valet mode" ? The car will lock and unlock....but alarm is not set. 2003 H6 automatic LL Bean

Manual says to " hold down unlock button AND open door...hold for more than 2 seconds.

Tried a dozen times.....no go.

Any ideas ?

Appreciate any help.

Sorry for bumping this old thread.....Just went through this when I installed the Alpine alarm and keyless entry into my wagon. Opening the drivers door and holding the unlock button didn't work on the new teardrop remote. But opening the drivers door and pressing the "trunk release" button worked flawless. No need to hold for 2-3 seconds. Just open the door and tap the button. this is for a 2002 Legacy Alpine alarm with 3 button teardrop remote. I hope this helps someone in the future

Seems that older teardrops are 2 button and should work by holding the unlock button for 2-3 seconds as mentioned earlier in the thread and newer ones are 3 button and work by tapping the trunk release.

Stuck in Valet...
It tried the instructions from the link that Canubaru posted, but it didn't do anything. I have the teardrop remote. The original remote used to work for getting it in and out of Valet, but I can't get it out using the teardrop. lock and unlock works fine.

History: the car was recently stolen and recovered, and I'm not sure if something was messed up in the process. The original remote no longer does anything, but the light indicates that it's transmitting.

ideas?

ignition locks

ok, what am i doing that causes this ?
click my remote open door button but sometime when i get in and try to start the vehicle the key will not turn. I've tried starting with the remote start, put the key in the ignition and the engine stops as it should, then the key turns and i can start the engine again. i'm thinking this has to do with the security, just need to know how to stop this from happening.

seeing as how the cars made in these years did not come with remote start, I guess you got that as a aftermarket system....

so you would have to find the information on the manufacturer's website for that aftermarket alarm / autostart package.

here is the information for 2000-2004 OEM auto locks and optional security that was Alpine based. (which you may still have on the car, if the autostart system does only that).
