2018 outback touring 2.5i 4 cylinder. What is the drain plug thread size? I wanted to order a quick drain oil valve but I don't know what size threads I need. Anyone else using a fumoto valve or other style drain plug replacement valve on their new outback?

M16 x 1.5 mm

For Subaru 2018 Outback 2.5L H4

And many here use and like Fumotos; I'm kind of "meh" only because I have to crawl under to get at my Gen 3's oil filter anyway. They are a quality, reliable product that can save you time if your filter is up top. Or if you just want to avoid the uncertainty of the crush washer. Or if you use oil change services (not recommended) and you worry about them over-tightening the drain plug.

Thanks johnre. I looked at the fumoto site but the page I had opened didn't list 2018 models so I wasn't sure of the size. I did find another page with the 2018 models listed and with your advice I ordered a Femco oil valve. The SB 6090010012 M16X1.5-T9 with the SB 650100 250mm drain hose M22X1.5 for $46. I liked it better because it takes up less space & only screws into the pan 7mm deep.

These are the items I ordered from Femco. On my first oil change out comes the plug & in goes the valve. I ordered the chain cap just in case but the o-ring holds the screw cap on snugly. https://usa.drainplug.com/product/standard-sb-6090010012-m16x-15-t9/ https://usa.drainplug.com/product/standard-drainer-with-hose-250mm-sb-m22x15-650100/ and https://usa.drainplug.com/product/dust-cover-set-sb-standard-650116/ I did have an issue with the hose not screwing all the way in, so it wouldn't fully open the drain plug valve. I had to use a knife to trim away the green hose above the clamp as it was cocking the internal tube so it wouldn't travel all the way up into the plug to fully push the valve up & open.
