Two versions of the Falken Wildpeak A/T Trail?

I had an interesting experience I'd like to share. We are all discussing the newly beloved Falken Wildpeak A/T Trail in combination of various wheels and sizes.
I had read that this tire had been purpose built for the RAV4 TRD Edition, in collaboration with Toyota, and as such was a perfect match for our Subaru Outbacks.
So I thought that before I buy them it would be fun to check them out on the RAV4 itself, hunted one down at the local dealership- and was surprised!
The Toyota TRDs Wildpeaks are 225/60-18 on flow formed wheels, and look great- but here's the thing: the tread is completely different from the pics on our forum and the Falken website, and the logo has an additional "01A" after the A.T Trail. It seems that the Toyota OEM tire and the "Aftermarket" A/T Trail are quite different.
Has there been any experience with this 01A version? I'm not sure if it would even be available to us, perhaps it's exclusive to Toyota owners.
Anyway, I did not see this coming!

I just compared the two versions and these are additional differences:

01A vs regular:

Made in Japan vs Thailand

UTQG 360BA (traction B!?) vs 680AA

27lbs vs 28lbs

Treadlife Warranty "None" vs 5 Years / 65,000 Miles

Road Hazard Warranty "None" vs 2 Years / first 3/32" of wear

Special Warranty "None" vs 30 days or 1000 miles trial ride

I can't see any reason why anyone would want the 01A.

It is common for auto manufacturers to work with tiremakers and develop a 'spec' tire. The tire is developed hand-in-hand with the vehicle to optimize specific perfomance parameters. It is essentially a custom tire for that car.
Even some of the common model tires may be modified in ways that are not visibly detectable when the automaker contracts lot quantities for OE installation. The change could be something to make it cheaper or something to make it better.

The 01A version comes only in 225/60/18 and is the OEM tire on the new 2020 Toyota RAV4 TRD Pro.

It has a different tread and sidewall pattern and considerably less tread depth, all resulting in less rolling resistance and lower weight, but a much lower expected treadlife and apparently no treadlife warranty.

It was designed to help the RAV4 receive a higher EPA MPG rating at likely a lower cost per tire.

For the most part, I would think that the standard/non-01A version of the Wildleak A/T Trail would be preferable for those shopping for replacement tires.

I want to thank everyone. I came to the forum a 75 year old guy with enthusiasm but very limited knowledge, and you members have helped me sort out the build of my beloved new Subaru, steering me towards good choices and basically kept me from ruining my car. I'm having a lot of fun, and I appreciate your making it possible more than words can express. God bless you all.

I can't believe they made such a lame version of the A/T trail for the Toyota. I have the regular version on my OB and they are great! I have the big Brother Wildpeak A/T 3 W on my F150, and they are also great tires. I had to buy both sets at Discount Tire Direct, as Tirerack didn't have the A/T trail at all and the A/T 3 W only in the old tread w/white letter.
