well there ya go. The updates posted there for the navigation units are the update you would get if you did the Firmware Over the Air update... so it's a small set of files and it will go pretty quickly.

SO are these files or updates any different then the ones we have been doing thru the Map update site OR the OTA without maps? They seem old (outdated?) if they are from June 2020.

 

the 2018 and 2019 use different files for their updates. The last update for each listed above is correct for each of those.... one for the Harman 3.0 units and one for the Harman 3.1/3.1α units. Both of the threads I started I keep up to date as I get information.

So these are OTA updates and posting files is only useful for people who don't have wifi for their cars?

yes. But I think the WIFI updates are only the HIGH level units (ones with navigation). Those also can download the maps that always come with firmware whether you like it or not from the subaru-maps site. The other two (MID and BASE) have to get their updates at the dealer. These files are what the dealer would install for you if you went in... so even the NAV units could get an update at the dealer and have the latest firmware but outdated maps.

it's useful for the NAV units if people don't need an updated map but want to fix some bug that the new firmware fixes.

I did both updated OTA from my garage. Didn't help the crap HK audio... Time to save my pennies for other speakers.

Hi the files I had are now outdated and I no longer have access to Subaru's files (my subscription has expired).

 

My head unit has gone black so I'm trying to see if I can get it to boot from a USB, so even an old file might work. I tried using the mapdownloader to install but I think that's different than this firmware. Probably my best chance so even if you still have an old file I'd appreciate if I could try!

 

Sorry I deleted them once they were obsolete so that I wouldn't give it to someone by mistake. You could try obtaining your own subscription and downloading fresh files, but even if you did that, I'm not sure how your head unit would be updated if your head unit is black. https://techinfo.subaru.com/stis/#/purchase_subscription

 

by any chance can you provide the 23.16.70 software update file for the 2019 mid model crosstek my car has no FOTA capabilities

 

the forester forum people put a bunch of that stuff on a google drive.

There's a slightly newer update for your headunit, but it only fixes one extra thing:
Noise (random interruption) on AM radio

the forester googles drive has the version you asked about though.

the latest map updates, for your headunit, always have the latest firmware. You don't get a choice, you get the firmware, then the maps, when it updates.

 

Thanks for checking. I had some hope it might boot up from the USB instead, as to me it looks like it's failing to load the operating system, but it's a long shot I agree

 

None of us have the crosstrek files as far as I know, and I definitely don't have them.
