Wonky backup camera lines

My 2023 Touring's backup lines, or target lines, or guide lines, (I don't know what you call them) are not adjusted correctly. They don't converge properly and they are so far apart as to be useless. The subaru dealer agrees but says there is no way to adjust them and I just have to live with that.

I have a hard time believing that. Does anyone know if and how these can be adjusted?

I recall another poster saying the lines on the 23 and up models are much farther apart than the 20 to 22 model years.

There are adjustments in the "Dealership Mode" menus. With ignition full on, not Accessory, Go to Settings -> Camera Settings -> Camera Settings. Lots of settings there. One of them requires a target on the ground a specific distance away for calibration.

I wouldn't mess with them without the service manual for guidance, but its something you could show your service dept and see what they say about adjusting them.

How far away from the body of the car are the lines supposed to be? As far as somewhere beyond the rear view mirror?

My right line shows me being on the edge of the driveway, when the tire is well more than 12" away. need to take a ruler to it... Maybe find a flat space and set out some 2x4s on the lines...

My front and rear camera's red lines do not fall the same distance from the edge of the car.

I have pulled into a parking space, using the front camera to align the, say, right red line on top of the white parking space line. Then I continue forwards until the rear of the car is in the space, and the rear camera right red line is NOT on top of the white parking space line. WTF ???

Lurking in here for a bit. I’m having same issue on my 2025 Outback touring xt. I’ve been to the dealership and to their credit they replaced the camera. Yet, I am still not happy with the result. I am working with corporate and plan on being the car to a second dealer. Corporate seems agnostic, frustratingly so. I would greatly appreciate a photo of the backup camera just about to pull into a spot. Mine just seems terribly off. Sorry for the order of photos. I am doing this from phone. Basically all photos were taken without moving car. What do you guys think?

It amazes me that the dealers are not aware.
Maybe because the ability to adjust the guidelines doesn't exist.

Of all the threads of people complaining about this issue, (There haven't been a lot. most people complain they lost full screen backup video, something they never had) I do not recall any of them ever replying 'The dealer adjusted the guidelines.

Adjusting the lines is possible with a bi-directional scan tool or SSM.

This is listed in the service manual under "Multi View Monitor (diagnostics)">customize or work support.
You are quoting the dealer's manual service that we don't receive with the car? What model year(s) are you looking at? What's an SSM ? Exactly what should I tell the dealer tech to search for, or a section and page ?

Backing into a parking space, the car is always diagonal to the parallel lines on the pavement.

SSM = Subaru Select Monitor, which is their proprietary software for servicing.
