What's your speed in 3rd gear at 1,000 and 2,000 and 3,000....and 4,000 rpm if you dare?

as the only way I can get the 4EAT to hold 3rd gear is to drive up a steep hill with speed and momentum, ...lots of variables there in a effort to get it to shift into 3rd otherwise.

I would think your request should state "on a typical flat run of pavement with the gear selector in "3", on a fully warm engine." (this would give a narrow response).

,...and a responders note on tires.
(I have a nearly new set of cooper studded 225/60/16 on right now,...vs. the well loved set of all season of Michelin Primacy I have on a cart in the garage.)

Am I going 50 or 35 at 2,000 rpms?!?!

I'm driving without a speedometer and would like to see some rough numbers. They do not have to be precise, nuances would bear themselves in data and Ive got no questions or problems - just looking for data. Good point on tire size, I can extrapolate.

I could use an app or my radar gun, I thought this would be simple.

app on phone or just a simple click for "speedometer" on a good old GPS also works.

Well I pretty much just let the AT do its thing...

Stock size Cooper LifeLiner touring tires were all I ran.

My AT seems to drop into 4th between 35-40 MPH at 1750 RPM, and then will cruise 40 MPH on flat ground at an even 1500 RPM

55 MPH is 4th gear at 2000 RPM
60 MPH is 4th gear at 2200 RPM
70 MPH is 4th gear at 2500 RPM (this is where it gets a little dubious because the interstates aren't very level around here, even a slight grade means 3500 to keep it at 70)
75 MPH is 4th at 3250-3500 RPM

That's been my experience I can remember, but there's been a few times where I've had a bit of a lead foot, and at 4k I think you're going to be singing some Sammy Hagar. I only ever go that fast to pass idiots with insecure loads and it's pretty amazing how much speed they pick up in that narrow range. I'm pretty positive you'd be at 100+ before you even broke into the 5k range. Really wide margin, so I think your best bet is to think of 4k as too fast haha

35 and less is a little more interesting. i THINK it keeps it in 3rd

30 MPH = 1k RPM
35 MPH = 1250 RPM

I haven't actually tested this with the gear selector to keep it pinned to one gear range, but my speedometer is slow by 5 MPH so at one point I basically mapped out my tachometer with a GPS speedometer.
