Hi all,

Belt tensioner pulley is squeaking in my 2008 H6. Need to replace asap but I am unable to answer this rather simple question: is the pulley in the belt tensioner the same part as the idler pulley?

I did some research and the only close answer is from user @Trig who mentioned in this thread that he replaced both with the same part (Dayco 89148).

Cheers.

Thanks for the answers! You guys are awesome!

The original poster is from Chile, and may not have access to such resources there to sort out these part issues - the Outback is pretty rare there.
Newer models are becoming popular now. It's great to see those beauties on the road. But older models like mine are rare.

On top of that, auto parts stores are just crazy expensive here, taking advantage of our poor car culture. I'm sure they won't clarify my doubt if that means selling me the whole tensioner, which is obviously more expensive.

I feel confident now and will buy both pulleys on Amazon for half the price the local auto parts store charges for just one. You can now imagine how precious this info is (thanks @avk !)
