What's happening with the green is metamerism. Where a color may appear one way in one lighting condition and different in another light. I was tempted with the green as well, but narrowed my choices to white, silver and gray. Eventually chose gray.
The Tungsten does the exact same thing. Looks silver in bright light and gold/tan in the shade. Im probably in the minority but I much preferred the wilderness green to this new autumn green.

So I'm in the process of ordering a new Outback Touring and having problems deciding on color. Almost everyone who has seen the Autumn Green talks highly of it, but I can't seem to find that color anywhere. I went to 4 local dealers and nothing. I'm thinking of just going with the Abyss Blue as I have seen that one and like it. The blue might be higher maintenance as it will take more frequent cleaning for it to look good. I've seen the Wilderness Green and didn't care for it. I've been told (by dealer) that Autumn green is much richer looking and darker. This market makes it tough to buy cars with no inventory! Any other thoughts out there?

My local dealers didn't have Autumn Green or Abyss Blue Outback's in stock, but they had the same colors on Ascents. After some contemplation I decided to order a blue Outback. I think it is a more neutral color and that it will age better.

It looks a lot darker in low light, but it really is a good looking color. Our second choice was the Magnetite Gray Metallic. We live on a gravel road so I think the Magnetite would have been harder to keep "looking" clean

It does seem more pale in the press release photos... but as you pointed out, subaru has always been really crappy at portraying the color of this car. To be fair, this color really plays off of the ambient light around it... but they do a pretty crap job in renderings and press photos, which is confusing because my stupid cellphone picks up on the color accurately.

As for my wife and I, it felt like we were going out on a limb when we ordered the autumn green for our limited xt. We only saw the wilderness in that color in person, and hadn't seen all that many on the road. Besides that, we're not exactly green as our favorite color type of people, and we've never even considered owning a green car before. All that said, after taking delivery and living with this car for a while, I am over the moon on the color and I feel like this is the color that is going to age the best with this car. For me, every car/model seems to end up with one of the available colors as the timeless color for that year/body style, and personally, I think the green is it for the 20-22' outback/forester. We will see if that holds true with the new one.

Day we brought it home... not barf, but still not quite just right.

60 minutes after having it home, much better

Looks nice but with all the Black-out treatment you would think they would do the same to the window trim. The chrome looks out of place, at least to me.
Yeah, I agree for sure. The wilderness obviously has it blacked out. I have the crux moto chrome delete kit, and I have the sport grille that I've blacked out the chrome on. Not all that expensive or difficult to get rid of it in the grand scheme of things, but I agree the car would look better that way for most of us.

My nephew just picked up his OBW in the green. Feel like getting some spray cans and finishing the woodland camo job on it. ;)
