Yes. Apply a piece of black electrical tape over the display.

 

Took the words right out of my mouth. Applying the externally to the display has to be 125% easier to do than to dick with the electronics.....and easier to reverse if desired.....

Stop mentioning the _ucking eco gauge. I makes me look at it when I get in the each time after being reminded of it. I then again realise how useless and annoying it is............

+1, not sure why some find it so bothersome. I agree it probably doesn't serve much purpose but certainly not something to get all worked up over.

I think what annoys us about the gauge is that every time we step on the gas to speed up, or to maintain speed on a upgrade, the gas mileage goes way down. It is a reminder that a light foot gets the better gas mileage. Not completely useless IMO.

 

I'll pay someone to hack the eco-gauge. And a bonus for disabling the hello kitty chimes of death.

I'm going against the flow..... actually like the feedback of knowing economy is improving if the bar is to the right of center. Not saying it's a defining feature of the OB but knowing you can improve average fuel economy with slight changes in driving input is beneficial to me. If gas were $5/gal maybe the feature would be of more benefit to the masses.

 

It is consuming valuable space where the outside air temp and clock should be.

I heard back from SoA. The eco gauge cannot be disabled.

I find Eco gauge useful and I don't have OCD so it doesn't bother me.

Also, if the clock was there instead, even the front passenger wouldn't be able to see it.

It sounds like this is one of those things that will be very interesting if anyone ever figures out how to hack the 2015 & later ECU. You might be able to reassign the gauge for another function entirely.

I also find it distracting on my 2019. I decided to purchase a sheet of static cling window blackout film on Amazon. I cut a piece to fit. I figured it would be better than electrical tape getting gummy on hot days and leaving adhesive on the cluster lense.

 

I've noticed that all of the cars I've rented in the past few years seem to have the equivalent of this gauge. They all do it a little differently, but it's there. Obviously I've not rented every different make and model, but that's been my experience. I'm wondering if there is some requirement to include that type of gauge.

 

Honda CRV has a white (bad) light ring around the speedometer or green (good) ring around it. The color changes depending on how hard you stomp the gas pedal. A little less annoying & space consuming that the Subaru version. Just telling us something we already know. Ding Dong. Who is it? It's the Nanny wagon syndrome striking again.
