I searched the forums. I skimmed the tome Subaru provided with my car. I can't seem to figure this out. Is it possible to disable or turn off the eco gauge?

I have no use for it, and frankly since it annoys me, it's a distraction.

And a bonus for disabling the hello kitty chimes of death.
Hello Kitty Chimes of Death. Nice phrase. Although I actually kinda like that sound compared to most other cars, it's still a good phrase.
Anyone here ever have one of the 1980s talking cars?
Your door is a jar. Your door is a jar.
That would (and did!) make people nostalgic for even an annoying buzzer.

...but I have the focus and attention span of a gnat. Every time I catch it in my periphery it annoys the sh*t out of me.
There's a rumor going around that's why the Eyesight system was developed. Too many Subbie owners getting distracted by the idiotic light show from the eco-gauge. :grin2:

I'm going against the flow..... actually like the feedback of knowing economy is improving if the bar is to the right of center. Not saying it's a defining feature of the OB but knowing you can improve average fuel economy with slight changes in driving input is beneficial to me. If gas were $5/gal maybe the feature would be of more benefit to the masses.

I've noticed that all of the cars I've rented in the past few years seem to have the equivalent of this gauge. They all do it a little differently, but it's there. Obviously I've not rented every different make and model, but that's been my experience. I'm wondering if there is some requirement to include that type of gauge.

Honda CRV has a white (bad) light ring around the speedometer or green (good) ring around it. The color changes depending on how hard you stomp the gas pedal. A little less annoying & space consuming that the Subaru version. Just telling us something we already know. Ding Dong. Who is it? It's the Nanny wagon syndrome striking again.
