Load the app and then try each of the features. There are a lot of things so you will need to find the ones that are useful for you. Examples: My wife went to a party but failed to notify me when she arrived. I used the app to find the location and know she arrived safely. We needed the current mileage for our insurance so got it from the app. If you have young drivers using the vehicle there are a number of useful features. Remotely lock the doors which I just used from the dentist office. Back to what I said, get the app and go through each option to see what is useful for you.

 

Thanks for the help but you're talking about the "My Subaru" app and that one is pretty straight forward and easy to understand. The one I need help with is the mobile "Subaru Starlink" app.

That's exactly what I ran into, no instruction or discussion anywhere. I even talked to my salesman the other day and he didn't know anything about it.

 

That reminds me. I need to cancel my Subaru Starlink subscription.

 

STARLINK, AHA, MAP DOWNLOAD UPDATE TOOL and MYSUBARU are the worst pieces of garbage I have ever use. The must have been coded by an actual monkey given a keyboard to tap on.

 

I ended up removing it from the iPhone. It was annoying to see it pop up when I plugged the phone in. I didn't need to know what birds were near me or have another method of accessing another music streaming app

 

You find a way to delete it from you console? It's kinda irritating seeing it there too.

 

It has some limited phone connectivity features, but honestly, there is no reason to use it over carplay/android auto.

 

Forget Android Auto. It never works and judging from the posts dating back more than five years I have seen, it has never worked. I removed from my android phone and only use my wife's Apple CarPlay.

 

I purposely chose a model without StarLink. I much prefer my iPhone and simple Car Play.

 

As a Subaru employee the Starlink app is garbage.. Download the app to your phone and you'll have access to a couple other apps, as stated before some are for music and entertainment others for info and such. Honestly not worth the space it takes up on your phone, and will soon be discontinued per my Regional Manager. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are much better and more intuitive systems hands down.

what I don’t understand is how can Subaru allow their brand to be associated with app that are so bad as STARLINK? Doesn’t do the, any favors when 1000’s of reviews say the same thing openly online.

 

^ Ditto. Android Auto is all I've ever used, and it's worked reliably.

 

I got a new phone 8 months ago and never downloaded Starlink. Haven't noticed a difference.

Maybe it is a Canada thing, but it is utterly useless.
